With more than 4,780 small businesses estimated to be operating in Mildura Rural City, The Good Guys Mildura is anticipating many will make targeted purchase decisions to capitalise on the Federal Budget announcement of all items under $20,000 attracting a tax deduction before 30 June.
The new $20,000 threshold represents a significant increase on the now outdated $1,000 asset write off limit and will be available to Mildura businesses with an annual turnover of under $2 million.
The Good Guys Mildura Store Manager, Dennis Johnson, said he expects to see technology and appliances on the top of most Mildura small businesses pre-June 30 shopping lists.
"Tax time is always a busy time of year for us and we often see a lot of local family businesses stocking up for the year ahead," he said.
"This announcement is a great opportunity for Mildura businesses to purchase products as the benefits of upgrading or buying new items far outweigh the cost," Mr Johnson said.
"With a wealth of new technology recently hitting the market, we expect to see increased sales in performance notebooks, Macs, multi-function printers, smart phones, monitors and 40" to 60" TVs, to help small business owners upgrade their connected home office.”
"In the lead-up to June 30, we also expect to see traditional stocktake purchases to extend to reverse cycle air conditioners and equipment for office kitchens and tea rooms such as fully automated coffee machines, fridges, sandwich presses and microwaves," Mr Johnson said .
