Wentworth Shire Council Residents have been advised that the filtered water supplied by Council is safe to use as it is treated with a process that is very successful at removing compounds produced by the algae and remains safe for contact and consumption.
The General Manager of the Wentworth Shire Peter Kozlowski said that filtered water for critical human needs can be accessed from public filtered water taps located at a number of locations with the municipality -
• Wentworth - Wentworth Visitor Information Centre
• Pooncarie - Pooncarie Town Hall
• Buronga - Silver City Highway (near Short Street)
• Gol Gol – James King Park
• Dareton – Lions Park
Earlier this week the Sunraysia Regional Algal Coordinating Committee issued a Red Alert for blue-green algae in the Murray River – Merbein to Lock 9 weir pool.
