A sink hole which left a gap in the Calder Highway at Irymple on Thursday is still waiting to be repaired.

Police were first to arrive and parked their vehicle alongside the half metre wide, one metre long  hole which suddenly appeared near the street kerbing on the southern side of the highway, opposite the Irymple Hotel.
Sometime later Mildura Rural City Council arrived with a truck, man power and signage to warn motorists of the traffic hazard.

But they were unsure as to whether the problem was with drainage and the wet weather or a leaking water pipe underneath, which would need the assistance from Lower Murray Water to fix.

As the Calder is a Vic-Roads highway, repairs are under their control at this stage.

It remains while it is now totally fenced off from the highway carriageway.
