SuniTAFE’s Tracy Mollison was announced 2017 Koorie Student of the Year at the Victorian Training Awards last night.
Ms Mollison completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is employed as a Participation Assistant at SuniTAFE.
Her goal is to help students achieve their dreams a step closer.
The opportunity to take on a Certificate IV, led her to re-evaluate her commitments – she was studying a Diploma of Horticulture, working as a part time gardener at Mildura Airport and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She has made sacrifices such as giving up this job in order to fit in more study.
Ms Mollison’s decision to focus on study has paid off, winning SuniTAFE’s Academic Student of the Year Award earlier this year and now state recognition at the Victorian Training Awards.
“Education is the key to get a job in the positions that made the decisions, not only for your future but your community”.
Ms Mollison will now progress onto the Australian Training Awards to be held in Canberra on November 23.
Another local Bethany Simpson, who studied at Mildura Senior College, won the Victorian School-based Apprentice of the Year Award.
Bethany Simpson is studying Cert III in Business Administration. attends Mildura Senior College and trained at Boulevard Motor Inn and Murray Mallee Training Company.
