Richmond Football Club General Manager Football Neil Balme has indicated the AFL premiers will be happy to support the concept of a major sports stadium and AFL standard football ground in 16th street, Mildura South.
Mr Balme was a stand in for Richmond Chief Executive Officer Brendan Gale, who was unable to attend the visit at the last minute because of other football pressures in Melbourne.
While Mr Balme said that the Tigers would throw their weight behind the South Mildura Sports Complex project, he said that the support would not include any financial contribution.
He said the Club would be happy to participate in events at the complex if and when it is built.
“We are a not for profit organisation and we are out there seeking grants and sponsorship to help fund our operation,” he said.
Mildura Rural City Portfolio Councillor for Sport Mark Eckel greeted Mr Balme at the site and showed him the plans for one of the Mildura Future Ready projects which will be put forward to Governments for funding considerations soon.
