Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council (SMECC) has announced the date for the 2018 Multicultural Festival and is now calling for expressions of interest from community members interested being part of the event.

Saturday April 28 2018 will be the date of this year’s event.

 SMECC Executive Officer Dean Wickham said that the festival is becoming an important part of Sunraysia’s annual event calendar is becoming one of the regions premiere community events celebrating our region.

Mr Wickham said that SMECC is welcoming applications now for stage performers, and any groups wanting to operate a food, art/ craft or activities stalls.

Tthe application deadline will be March 2, 2018.

“The Sunraysia Multicultural Festival is always a great day out for the community, but we always place a focus on helping to ensure it also provides an opportunity for new and  emerging community groups to get involved,” Mr Wickham said.

 “We are already working with different groups through our community programs, especially young people, to start preparing activities to be part of this year’s event”.

As part of the events efforts to engage youth in the local community this year’s event will be held in the grounds of the Chaffey Secondary College.

Mr Wickham said that the best way for the community to stay up to date with plans for the event will be through linking into the Sunraysia Multicultural Festival 2018 Facebook event page.
