A meeting of Red Cliffs Focus last night has decided to seek Mildura Rural City Council support for the retention of a boardwalk at the Red Cliffs of the Murray River.

Mayor of Mildura Cr Mark Eckel said that he had called towards the end of the meeting and offered help with advocacy for its retention if requested.

Cr Eckel said that he was unaware of the pending removal of the walkway and was supportive of the historical nature of the Red Cliffs area and its positioning as part of the Chaffey Trail.

Cr Eckel said he believed that the local member Peter Crisp had attended the meeting and had listened to what the community was saying.

The Mayor said that the likely issue of the Boardwalk was not the only one which the City was in discussion with Parks Victoria over.

He said for two years he had been attempting to source funding to provide all weather access to the Psyche Bend Pumps Station, also part of the Chaffey Trail.
