The Federal Government is set to deliver the Murray Darling Basin Plan – unlocking up to $300 million dollars of investment into environmental water projects in the Mallee.

Federal Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad MP has welcomed the news delivered by Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, the Hon David Littleproud MP, which will drive jobs, growth and water security across the Electorate of Mallee.

“I am very pleased to see the commitments to unlocking the Sustainable Diversion Limits; this is going to open up up to $300 million worth of infrastructure in the electorate of Mallee – a good outcome.”

This investment will take shape in the form of 7 major environmental water projects taking place in the electorate of Mallee throughout the delivery of the plan.

“We are using practical infrastructure to achieve good environmental outcomes and along the way we are driving jobs and economic growth to our river regions.”

“If we look at the Hattah Lakes in our patch - this is an outstanding example of how you can achieve great environmental outcomes with well managed water.”

Mr Broad said this commitment not only delivers certainty to the two million Australians who live in the Murray Darling Basin, their communities, farmers, and the environment – but also a greater security to the Lower Darling.

“This investment into our region is a fantastic result for our small river townships and communities and I look forward to seeing the projects roll out in the near future,” Mr Broad said.
