NSW Police's Operation Stay Alert has seen 1189 Random Breath Tests conducted during the campaign.  Police issued 39 infringement notices for speeding, 13 tickets for not wearing a seatbelt and 78 other offences were also detected.

A 53 year old Gol Gol man was bailed refused, charged and taken to Broken Hill Gaol after being detected driving over the prescribed alcohol three times in a single day.

At about 8:45am on Friday the 8th of June 2018, a red Mazda sedan bearing NSW registration was detected by Dareton Highway Patrol, exceeding the speed limit in the school zone on the Sturt Hwy at Gol Gol. The driver was stopped and was subjected to a breath test which he failed.  The driver was arrested and taken to Dareton Police station where he underwent a breath analysis test. A reading in the Middle Range Prescribed concentration of alcohol was recorded.  The driver had his licence immediately suspended as a result of the MRPCA reading.

At 10.45am the same day the same male was again detected driving the red Mazda on Friel Street Buronga.  The driver was again stopped by NSW Highway Patrol Police and breath tested.  The driver again failed the test and was arrested and taken to Dareton Police station where he returned a breath analysis in the High Range Prescribed Concentration of alcohol. The male driver was further charged with High Range PCA and drive whilst suspended. On this occasion he was given strict Bail not to occupy the driver's seat of a motor vehicle and his car keys were confiscated. 

About 6:10pm on the same day the same male was again detected driving on the Sturt Highway at Gol Gol by Highway Patrol Police. A third Breath Test was given by Police resulting in the driver being arrested again.  A subsequent breath analysis test at the Dareton Police station returned another reading in the High Range Prescribed concentration of alcohol.  

A court appearance the following day in Broken Hill saw the 53 year old male, bailed conditionally from court, to appear at the Wentworth Local court on the 3rd of July 2018 charged with 3 drive with Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol offences (1 MRPCA and 2 HRPCA) and 2 Drive whilst suspended offences.
