Despite a terribly bleak and cold day thousands attended the two day Hattah Desert motor bike race held at Colignan over the weekend.

The overall winner was Daniel Sanders of NSW, a previous winner, who beat Josh Green, who was second and Lyndon Snodgrass who was third.

The placegetters improved over the last five laps after Daniel Milner was suddenly hampered by ignition problems towards the end.

While Milner lost ground and dropped back to 14th position he rapidly regained lost territory and in the last few hundred metres got past Ouyen’s Nathan Trigg again to finish 4th,

Trigg was the best performed local rider with a fifth placing.

Four riders were taken by ambulance after accidents on the course over the weekend.

A 13 year old Mildura junior rider received back injuries in a fall – he was conveyed to Hospital and is resting awaiting X-ray scans to be conducted in Mildura Monday.

A female junior rider was also injured – possibly concussed in a spill.

Two male riders were also taken to Mildura Base Hospital for treatment on Sunday, one with a suspected leg injury after leaving the course and crashing into a spinifex mound. A second rider was also taken to Mildura Base for observation after crashing.
