Daniel Andrews’ plan to improve rail services in country Victoria is new seat fabrics and new carpet.

While the Federal Government has delivered more than $1.6 billion to upgrade the state’s rail network, the Andrews Labor Government are investing just four per cent of the capital funding for public transport in this year’s Budget into Regional Victoria.

Instead of investing in V/Line, Daniel Andrews won’t even do the bare minimum to make sure regional passengers can get where they need to be, on time.

Under the Andrews Labor Government, V/Line’s performance has slumped to a 10-year low. It consistently fails to meet its operational targets and has recorded the worst customer satisfaction rating in a decade.

Last month alone eight of the 11 V/Line services – Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Gippsland, Warrnambool, Ararat-Maryborough, Albury-Wodonga and Bairnsdale – failed to meet their punctuality targets.

The worst performing was the Albury-Wodonga line, where almost 50 per cent of services failed to arrive within 11 minutes of their scheduled time.

Shadow Minister for Regional Public Transport Steph Ryan said "New carpets and new seats won’t make the trains arrive on time or provide the capacity needed in the network to get people to work each day.

While V/Line’s fleet continues to age, patronage continues to grow as the state’s population grows.

Daniel Andrews is doing less than the bare minimum on the V/Line network.
