Mildura East veteran Tom Vadlja took 6/22 from 15 overs as he outed Nichols Point for a mere 34 runs in First Division Cricket on Saturday.

It gave East an outright victory and improves its standing in the race to the finals after two more rounds of play this season.

Nichols Point went from 3/30 to all out for 34 in one of the worst collapses in the club’s history.

Mildura Settlers captain coach Tarque Williamson showed strong batting form with a 97 after the top order batted only moderately against Coomealla Wentworth.

He shared a great partnership with Richie Wyld, who was playing his 200th first division game and remained 68 not out at stumps.

The West pair of Lachlan Skinner and Ben Hallam resumed on Saturday and both reached half centuries before losing their wickets.

Their stand of 97 for the second wicket put their side well on the way to a win over Merbein
