The Sunraysia Football League has dropped the eligibility criteria associated with Under 18 footballers who play in a higher grade during the season.
While the League has maintained the qualifications applying to senior and reserves players at finals time, the only criteria which applies at finals time for Under 18 players is that of age.
This means that an underage player who has played all season with the seniors will be permitted to automatically drop back to the Thirds in the finals series.
This will allow a number of youngsters who have spent most of their football playing in the higher grade to drop back and play (of they wish) in the Thirds if their side I splaying in the finals.
A number of Clubs have expressed concern at the change of qualification ruling as it will put pressure on the individual clubs to decide whether to allow a player who possibly played all his 2017 in the seniors to drop back and play Under 18 finals displacing a team mate who has actively taken the side to the finals.
SFNL Administrator Peter Walker confirmed the new ruling on Monday,
