Mildura Harness Racing Club will set a record of staging 12 races at its TAB meeting to be held at the Mildura Recreational Reserve on Friday afternoon.

The 12 race program follows two recent meetings which comprised 11 race programs and two meetings at which 10 races were held.

Club Secretary Tim Scala said that the total prize money on offer of $65,500 was the highest ever for a “normal” regular meeting, aside from a meeting which also included a feature race or a number of feature races,

“IT’s a great boost for the local harness industry as the extra races being held give more opportunities for local trainers to win or be placed,” Mr Scala said.

The program on Friday will feature five races which each carry prize money of $7000, four which carry $5000 and another three at $3500 (which are penalty free).

But strangely four of the $7000 races which are races 9,10, 11 and 12 and feature the higher assessed horses are not legs of either Quadrella.

The TAB will run its early Quadrella on races one to four while the main quadrella will be on races five to eight.

The first of the 12 race card will be at 11.30am and race 12 is scheduled to start at 5.46pm

Around 70 percent of pacers engaged at the program are locally trained while 10 South Australian horses will be participating.
