Two goals by Ouyen United deep into time on changed the result of the Sunraysia Football League second semi-final played at Mildura’s number one oval.

In the last five minutes the Demon defenders floundered and with sheer grit Dean Staunton weaved through a pack to snap a goal and level the scores at the 23 minute mark of the last term.

A mere 30 second later Brad Vallance did likewise to put Ouyen United in front and into the SFNL Grand final on Saturday week.

The Kangas had most of the play in the last quarter but took seven minutes to eventually score a goal through Marcus Healy.

Mildura ventured forward occasionally but scored only one point in the final term

The Demons had lost Josh Martin at the last change but Ouyen United  coach Andrew Jardine came off 10 minutes into the final term with a leg strain.

Mildura kicked six goals in the opening term but only another five for the game as the Ouyen United defenders Mathew Palmer, Mitch Taylor and Lionel Odgen cut off many attacks.

For Mildura Craig Beggs won the tap downs but in the second half the Demons could not get their run going and in the final minutes the weary Mildura defence wilted and the Demons were over run.

They had no real answer to the movement of Brad Vallance into the forward zone for the last 10 minutes of the game.

It was Vallance who kicked three of the last four goals to lift Ouyen United to a most unexpected win in a day of upsets.

Earlier in the day Imperials upset Robinvale-Euston in the Under 16, IImperials always headed the ladder leaders Robinvale Euston while in the reserves the shift of ex-AFL player Rolton Roberts into the midfield for the last term provided enough chances for another ex-AFL player Lawrence Angwin to kick goals and lift the side over the line against Irymple.

Itymple toppled Robinvale Euston in the Under 18 second semi final.
