Mildura’s hometown speedway hero and the current Australian Number Two Justin Sedgmen has confirmed his place in the 2017 GT Windscreens Phil Crump International Solo Trophy as part of the 70th Anniversary meeting of the Mildura Motorcycle Club on Sunday November 5.
The Ipswich Witches rider, who is currently on the sidelines with a shoulder injury is due back racing in the next four to six weeks where he is expected to take his place as 1st reserve in the 2017 Australian Speedway Grand Prix at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.
The Merbein rider is a track specialist around his home track having won numerous meetings at Olympic Park including a Australian Championship round and he is a former winner of the Phil Crump Solo Trophy in 2014.
Sedgmen will be hoping to get one up on World Speedway Championship leader Jason Doyle and Australian Champion Sam Masters in what promises to be a classic against Australia's top riders.
" it's been tough old season getting injured hasn't been fun, but I will be right in four to six weeks and that means I will be able to take my place in the Grand Prix in Melbourne and the 70th anniversary meeting at home it should be a special night," Sedgmen said.
Australians best sidecar riders will also feature on the night with the inaugural Gates Sidecar Cup being staged. Former World Champion Mick Headland, Victorian Champion Mark Plaisted and local Icon Byren Gates are some of the riders taking part.
