The Mildura Senior School cricket team will play off for the State Schools title after beating Bendigo Senior College.
The home side was dismissed for 68 on Tuesday with Shania McKinnon and Emma Martin each taking two
wickets each while Tara Martin and Sarah Telfer chipped in with one each.
In reply the Mildura Senor College ladies made 153 with all three of our first batters Sarah Telfer, Shania McKinnon and Tara Martin retiring at 30, while Vhilla Evans made 22.
German exchange student, Iris Manns made two not out and had never even heard of cricket before signing up and now she will be a state finalist.
The boys had two games.
The first was against St Joseph’s of Echuca which made 4/98 from their 13 overs.
Locke Thorton, Caleb Garraway and Eli Alibaster all took one wicket and Hayden Carroll effected a run out.
When asked to bat Mildura Senior College were 2/110 after 10 overs with Paddy Keogh was 73 not out, James Perry made 12 and Nick Price was nine not out.
In the final Bendigo made 2/132 with Hugh Ryan and Caleb Garraway both taking a wicket.
Ten runs an over was always going to be a big ask and in the end of overs Mildura Senior College were 5/92.
Locke Thornton was 26 not out and Paddy Keogh backed up with another 21 runs to give him 94 for the day.
The Girls team now go on to the state finals in Melbourne. The Mildura Senior College first made the schools state final for cricket in 2014 and that team also included a Japanese exchange student, who had never played cricket before her arrival for a years schooling in Sunraysia.
