About 230 people attended the funeral service of country singer Wally Sparrow held at the Centennial Park Crematorium in Pasadena, SA, on Tuesday.

Sparrow, who performed regularly at the Mildura Country Music Festival from 1991 to 1996, was an agricultural representative who served this area, a rural journalist for Rural Press , a country music presenter, a country music talent quest adjudicator and a Country Music Awards judge of some standing.

He died two days after presenting his Saturday morning country music show at Radio Adelaide.

His son Ben presented the eulogy with further contributions from Robbie Breckon and John Harris, members of the South Australian Emmylou Harris Appreciation Society and Country music Photographer Robyn McIntosh of Renmark.

Among those attending the funeral service were singers Becci Cole, J J Shannon, the Sherrah family, former Mildura singer Meagan Laurie, Pete and Marg Miller and Charlie McCracken, along with the co-ordinator of the Mildura Country Music Festival John Arnold.

Representatives from the Playford, Adelaide and Port Pirie Country Music Club attended along with a number of radio broadcasters including Tammy Wellman of Radio Adelaide and Sarah Tomlinson of ABC Radio Port Pirie, who began her radio career at HOT FM Mildura, her home town.
