Sunraysia Cancer Resources will seek a new part time business manager to replace the long time centre manager Viona Woodroffe, who has left.

Chair of Sunraysia Cancer Resources Jenny Gledhill said that after nine and half years in the job of centre manager, Ms Woodroffe had departed to take up full time employment elsewhere in Mildura.

The Centre opened in mid-2007 and in early 2008 had employed Ms Woodroffe in a part time capacity to work with volunteers and the Committee to provide a service for local cancer sufferers.

Mrs Gledhill said that following the resignation of the Manager, the Committee had met between Christmas and New Year, resolving to advertise for a part time business manager at the Centre.

A farewell gathering for Ms Woodroffe was held on Monday night with a number of local people speaking at a gathering of around 50 people.

Those to farewell Ms Woodroffe included Maree Freckleton, who spoke on behalf of local Support Groups, Dot Nash, representing the Fundraising Committee and Roma Williams, who is the co-ordinator of volunteers.

Mrs Gledhill said that volunteers would continue to run the centre five days a week (Monday to Friday) until the new part time business manager is appointed.’
