An event that local gardeners look forward to is the Annual Autumn Flower and Floral Design Show conducted by members of Sunraysia Garden Club.
The show commences on Saturday, May 12 at 12.30 pm until 5 pm and continues on Sunday from 10am until 4.00pm in the Sunraysia Masonic Centre, Irymple.
Exhibitors have taken up the challenge and are preparing their best floral designs, prize blooms and pot plants ahead of Saturday morning’s judging by visiting accredited judges.
Autumn Roses are always a showstopper with their enhanced color and perfume at this cooler time of year.
Dahlias and Chrysanthemums are other well contested show exhibits with Chrysanthemums, the traditional Mother’s Day flower, always a favourite with visitors.
Cut flower classes include all other garden plants including autumn foliage, fruiting ornamentals, bulbs, annuals and perennials flowering now in local gardens.
Floral Design is a highlight with Open, Novice and Intermediate sections keenly contested as local floral designers put into practice their flower arranging skills gained at monthly floral design classes conducted by Sunraysia Garden Club.
The plant stall is a major attraction too and is filled with a huge variety of pot plants, bulbs, perennials and annuals propagated by members from their own gardens.
Admission is $4, ample parking available and morning and afternoon teas can be enjoyed with friends and family.
